I remember going to Disney world when I was in grade 4. I was so excited and couldn't wait to go and see everything. The weeks leading up to the trip, my sisters and I probably drove my parents nuts!
Right now, I feel like my 9 year old self waiting to go to Disney World. In the weeks leading up to departure I found myself staring at a calendar and counting down the days until we would leave with nothing but pure joy and excitement. In outward appearance, there are few similarities between Disney World and Mozambique. Disney World is full of rides, beautiful Hotels to sleep in, endless supplies of clean water, plenty of yummy and delicious food for everyone, and of course--Mickey Mouse. In Mozambique, the houses look nothing like ours in Canada, only half the population has access to clean water, many children go to bed hungry at night, and there are a number of mice and rodents (but they look nothing like Mickey Mouse). When Mozambique and Disney World seem so different outwardly one may wonder why I would bother to compare them. As a child I was told that Disney World is "where all your dreams come true". Returning to the Zimpeto Children's Centre has been a dream of ours for years. Stepping on an airplane is like a dream come true!
